The Short SC.7 Skyvan, also known as the "Flying Shoebox," is a British 19-seat twin-turboprop aircraft first flown on January 17, 1963. It was manufactured by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and features a rugged design with short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. Initially developed in response to a request from F.G. Miles Ltd. for a variant of the Hurel-Dubois Miles HDM.106 Caravan design, the Skyvan was produced from 1960 to 1986, with just over 150 aircraft manufactured. Today, the remaining examples are primarily used for short-haul freight and skydiving operations.
